The softest Merino wool I've yet found anywhere comes from a rural co-op of women in Uruguay. Here they've hand-dyed the Merino in a color scheme called Paris Nights. A traditional beanie cap style for wearing down low over the forehead and below the ears. Snug and soft.

A very special Pussy Cap for my grandson Aidan Thomas who's on his way and due to arrive in October. His little cap is made from handspun baby alpaca and mahogony angora. Soooooooo soft. And so little.
Handspun natural tan cashmere accented with a hand-dyed cashmere silk blend in Beachstone colors. Both yarns are from Lisa Souza. Light & stretchy and soft in the way that only cashmere is soft.

Seven totally different yarns tied end to end in alternating lengths for a riot of color and texture. Cashmere, wool, possum, cotton, merino, alpaca and (gasp!) even some acrylic and nylon. Flip it inside out and it has a smoother texture but still all of the colors and softness. A roomy fit.
