The newest member of the Kahuna Pussy Cap family boasts three luxurious yarns from the imaginarium of Lisa Souza. As is always the case with this signature style, the black band at the bottom of the cap is crocheted from a natural jet-black baby alpaca yarn that Lisa handspun for me. The accents and body of the cap are crocheted from a pairing of natural beige cashmere & superfine merino that Lisa also handspun and a small strand of merino wool that Lisa hand-dyed in shades of brown, tan and smokey black. This is an amazing cap; indulgent softness with world-class yarns for a thick and protective winter gem of a Kahuna Pussy Cap.

Cap #9800  Sold
The natural creamy-white cashmere in this Pussy Cap was handspun by California artist Lisa Souza who utilized the world's finest Mongollian cashmere fibers for this yarn and spun them to absolute perfection. This is a yarn that's buttery-soft and luxurious and unlike any other cashmere you're likely to have in your closet. I coupled it with a doubled strand of a thin yarn that was spun from cashmere, silk and a little bit of merino. It's softness, smoothness and color match the cashmere perfectly and add a little bit of a sheen to the fabric. It's simple and it's cashmere and with time could easily become one of your best friends. (My personal collection of cashmere sweaters and Pussy Caps may or may not have names. I'm certainly not telling.) The style is classic beanie and the fit is generous and comfortable. Anybody could wear it and love it, no doubt about it. And it might even be ideal for year-round wear in some climates.

Cap #8636-4  Sold
I combined three different yarns here for a funky mix of colors that are actually pretty cool together. The dark brown yarn is a Koigu merino wool from Canada, handpainted by mother/daughter team Maie and Taia Landra of Ontario. In bright coral & blue is another great merino wool from Italy that was handpainted by California fiber artist Lisa Souza. And rounding out the troika is a sky-blue merino wool yarn that I found in an antique shop in Arizona that looks to me from the label to be from the 1940s or thereabouts. The three yarns worked really well together and created a strong, thick fabric that is still wonderfully soft and comfortable next to the skin. A classic beanie cap fit and look with simple styling and outrageous colors. Can you see the subtle swirling patterning that the coral color makes? Pretty cool, huh.

Cap #8595  Sold
I don't want to overemphasize the challenges digital cameras have with reds, but that's the reality and I mention it only because you're looking at a red that's really a deep gorgeous burgundy bordering on aubergine. (How's that for a color description, huh?) And to boot it's one of the most luscious and buttery soft baby alpaca yarns I've ever had in my hands. It's amazing, it really is. I alternated it here with a handpainted merino wool from Peru` that's astoundingly soft. I don't know how they get wool to be this soft but they do it, and it works! Two sensational yarns in a classic beanie cap that's thick and warm and easily soft enough for a shaved head.

Cap #7572  Sold
I coupled two beautifully colored, lightweight yarns for the bulk of this Pussy Cap and then threw in some black to break things up a little bit. The lighter yarn you're seeing in the detail is a blend of baby alpaca and silk that Lisa Souza hand-dyed a shimmering gold. Accompanying it is a superfine Peruvian alpaca yarn that's a blend of natural blacks, browns and tans. And finally the natural jet-black handspun baby alpaca yarn, also from Lisa. The result is a Pussy Cap with rich colors and absolute next-to-the-skin softness while still being lightweight enough to wear long after you've put your other beanies away for the season. A medium-sized beanie with a classic style and easy fit.

$100.00 - Cap #8612  Sold
There are an astonishing five different yarns that went into this Pussy Cap. And there's a lot of each of them. For the body of this luscious cap I've combined Lisa Souza's handpainted Bombyx silk, my custom Northern Lights yarn from Canada that's blended from equal parts cashmere, angora fur and baby alpaca and finally a pale purple yarn from Lisa's dye pots that's a blend of baby alpaca and silk. Wow wow wow!  For the big turned up accent band I combined two crazy wonderful yarns - one is pure handpainted silk in an unusual lacey boucle` style and the other is brushed mohair & silk in pale purples, blues and greys. All of the silk in these yarns gives the fabric a wonderful drape and a soft sensuous hand. The cap has a comfortable but snug fit and a gathered top, which gives it a little bit of drape at the crown. Really beautiful on.

Cap #9706  Sold
Mostly what you need to know about this handsome Nekker is that its yarns are all various blends of cashmere, angora fur and baby alpaca. The colors are muted and elegant, making this Nekker a nice choice for even the dressiest occasions. It will always compliment but never dominate. Although Joe is modeling it in the pictures above I really think it would work perfectly for either a guy or a gal. Ethereal softeness and warmth for your neck or your head. Nekkers are amazingly versatile and a lot of fun to play with and wear.

Cap #9711  Sold
This brilliant red Four Corners Pussy Cap was crocheted with three really great yarns. First up is a red millspun baby alpaca yarn from Peru` that has been coupled throughout the entire cap with a buttonspun wool yarn from Uruguay that was handspun by the ladies of a small village co-op. The teal trim is a handspun, hand-dyed wool yarn from South America and it perfectly matches the little blips of teal in the buttonspun yarn. The cap is big and comfortable but not sloppy on. The fabric created by the doubling of the two yarns is thick and protective and has just a little bit of breathing spaces in between the stitches. Red is really hard for digital to work with so the colors here aren't as accurate as they should be. I'll tell you though, this is a really beautiful Four Corners Pussy Cap!

Cap #7566 Sold
From Canada comes this heavenly soft blend of equal parts Qiviut, Alpaca & Merino, all in their natural light tan colors and millspun to absolute perfection by some very skilled and dedicated fiberists on Prince Edward Island. With all of the softness, comfort and warmth of cashmere, this is truly one of the most wonderful yarns I've ever worked with. I love it and I know you will too. Accenting is a small band of superfine Peruvian alpaca in shades of black, tan & grey and nestled down inside of that is even more Peruvian alpaca in natural black. A classic beanie cap style and fit with softness and warmth to spare, this is a perfect choice for someone with a shaved or bald head or sensitive skin because with a couple of wearings the qiviut wil start to bloom. And nothing on earth is softer than qiviut, the downy undercoat of the arctic musk ox.

Cap #6367  Sold
The combination of three yarns crocheted as one for the body of this cap gives it a nice thickness and a lot of squishiness, which we call loft in the fiber biz. The grey Canadian yarn is a blend of qiviut, alpaca and merino in their natural colors. The qiviut in this yarn is immediately noticeable and provides of feeling of soft luxury overall that just can't be beat. Along with it is a strand of Peruvian alpaca tweed in its natural tan and brown colors as well as a thin strand of burgundy baby merino from Uruguay. Accenting in the band is a colorful Japanese merino, silk & mohair yarn that includes oranges, reds and greens in its pallet. The style is traditional, the fit is perfect for anybody's head with lots of length for covering the ears and the softness and warmth are everything you could hope for in a beanie. Only it's not a beanie, it's a Pussy Cap!

Cap #8649  Sold
Don't be fooled by the simplicity of this cap - this is Peruvian baby alpaca tweed in teal and grey and its softness is something to write home about. Alpaca is such an amazing fiber because it's seven to eight times warmer than wool and will outlast it by a lot of decades. And the best part of all? Baby alpaca doesn't itch and it doesn't have lanolin - so it's about as hypo-allergenic as you can get. Accenting in the band here is a steel grey Japanese boucle` yarn that's spun from silk & wool. A nice comfortable fit in a classic beanie style with subtle but rich colors and all the softness you could ever hope for.

Cap #8641  Sold
This is one of those Pussy Caps that you just wanna snuggle up with when you go to bed - doesn't matter whether it's in your hands or on your head, its otherworldy softness is something you won't want to let go of. For the body of the cap I used a truly spectacular millspun yarn from Canada that's a blend of equal parts Qiviut, Alpaca & Merino wool, all in their natural pale taupe colors. This yarn is so soft and smooth that I doubt there's a person alive who couldn't wear it next to the most sensitive skin of their body. Three bands of double-crocheted brushed Italian cashmere in matching tan are placed so that they'll snuggle your forehead and ears with the downiest softness imaginable. I've got softness for you and it's all right here in this beautiful monochromatic Pussy Cap that fits like a glove and feels like a little bit of heaven on your head.

Cap #6405  Sold
I don't often work in pink but these yarns called out to me and said "come on Tom, take a chance on us, you won't be disappointed." And I wasn't. A soft pink alpaca yarn is coupled here with a very thin strand of rayon & silk with lots of soft little nubs in it. Together they make for a fabric that's soft, supple and durable. Accenting in the border is a natural white handspun Chilean angora fur yarn that will with time and a few wearings develop quite a halo and make this Pussy Cap even more whimsical and fun than it already is. The style is classic beanie with an easy, comfortable fit and lots of stretch for anybody's head.

Cap #9702  Sold
The snowy-white yarn you're seeing in this cap is my much loved Samoyed fur yarn that's spun from the downy soft undercoat of Canadian Samoyed sled dogs. This is a very rare yarn and expertly spun for me by twin sisters Hazel and Linda up on Prince Edward Island in Canada. A little bit of natural white merino wool has been spun into it to add strength. It's the fur you're going to feel though and it's soft and warm and totally protective against the elements. Coupled with it throughout this Pussy Cap is a lovely yarn from England in lavender and pink that's a blend of mohair, silk & wool. Accenting in the band is a handspun, handpainted gem from Lisa Souza that she spun from cashmere & merino and handpainted the colors of forest berries. The Samoyed fur yarn is going to bloom giving you an authentic fur Pussy Cap that will delight you as much as it protects you. A classic style with an easy fit that looks so wonderful on.

Cap #8603  Sold
The look of this Pussy Cap is subtle but upon closer inspection you'll see that the handpainted merino wool yarn has some reallly rich browns, tans and blacks. They're nestled in amongst the natural white superfine alpaca yarn from Peru` and together have made for a soft, durable and very protective winter Pussy Cap. The band can be worn up or down depending on your needs or desires and the fit is snug without being tight. Simple, clean, subtle and beautiful on, this Pussy Cap will be with you a long long time.

Cap #9803  Sold
This traditional Pussy Cap is crocheted mostly from an Italian baby alpaca yarn in boucle style. In between the rows of baby alpaca I added a handpainted merino wool yarn from Lisa Souza in her signature colorway called Mahogony. Its presence is subtle but completey changes and compliments the look of the baby alpaca yarn. The silver trim on the bottom of the cap is also from the same baby alpaca boucle`. This is a classic style beanie cap that will fit comfortably to the bottoms of the ears and provide a ton of luxuriously soft warmth.

Cap #9805  Sold
This is a huge Pussy Cap that I crocheted with a pairing of two beautiful but very different yarns. One is a handspun woolen beauty in greens, blacks and whites from Sandy Ryan of Wisconsin and it's joined by a sensuous Italian boucle` yarn spun from pure merino wool. On the inside of the cap is a band of cashmere, merino and a merino boucle` to make sure that the part of the cap next to the skin would be as soft as possible. The turned up band is a huge four to five inches and gives this cap all of the warmth and protection you could ever hope for. It's big, it's thick and it's going to keep you very very warm!

Cap #7504  Sold
Aaah yes, lots and lots of natural tan and white baby alpaca from Peru`.  I combined the strand of tan yarn with the strand of white yarn and crocheted them together until there was lots and lots of length. The top knot and the winding stripe is a tripling of handspun llama and alpaca in their natural black and espresso brown colors. The accent stripe is crocheted right into the fabric instead of being appliqued onto the top of it. The pattern, as you can see, is completely different on each side of the cap. This is a big Pussy Cap but it has a comfortably snug fit and is so beautiful on. Softness and warmth are a given and present here in abundance. Hover over the images for more views.

Cap #9709  Sold
This one will bring a smile to your face! I combined two amazingly soft yarns for this Pussy Cap and they're perfect together. In natural grey is luxuriously soft angora fur yarn from Canada that in a very short time will bloom up, making this Pussy Cap not only one that's blazingly warm and but indulgently soft. Coupled with it is one of Lisa Souza's handspun cashmeres in a broad pallet of beautiful colors. It isn't lost here but rather contributes a most subtle color presence and a softness that is a peer to the angora fur. This is a smaller cap for those who just want something simple and close to the head. Soft and warm and beautiful and simple; the perfect winter Pussy Cap.

Cap #9806  Sold
Pure angora fur handpainted and handspun by Lisa Souza in a subtle range of rich reds forms the basis for this exceptionally beautiful Pussy Cap. I added alternating rows of superfine Peruvian alpaca whose natural dark browns and tans really compliment and richen the reds of the angora. Soft and lightweight with an easy fit, this is one Pussy Cap that is trying seriously to make its way into my personal collection. Absolutely stunning on, even for someone like me who says he can't wear red.

Cap #262  Sold
Pussy Caps that use lighter colored yarns are sometimes hard to get good pictures of but this one is pretty close to true. There are two yarns crocheted together as one for the body of the cap. The first is one of my favorites - a Canadian yarn in its natural pale tan color that's blended from equal parts qiviut, alpaca and merino. This amazing yarn called Northern Mist, will eventually show a slight bloom because of the qiviut and become softer and more beautiful in the process. Accompanying it throughout the cap is a beautiful silk & wool blend from Japan that's dyed in some very subtle shades of ivory that are slmost imperceptible in the picture but will be more evident in hand. Accenting in the band is a double thick handspun alpaca yarn in its natural deep espresso brown from Marsha Berkemeier of Missouri. The look and style are classic beanie but the yarns are world-class for this very simple, very nice Pussy Cap.

Cap #8684  Sold
I liked this combination of yarns so much I crocheted both a Pussy Cap and Nekker from it. The darkest maroon yarn you're seeing is a Pussy Cap original that was spun for me in Canada blending equal parts cashmere, angora fur and baby alpaca. I call it Northern Lights and it is truly an amazing yarn. The coral colored yarn is from Lisa Souza's  dyepots as is the pinkish magenta yarn. They are both blended from baby alpaca and silk. This outrageously soft and luxurious Nekker will feel like heaven around your neck and get oohs and aahs from everyone in the process.

Cap #9711 Sold
One of the most lusciously soft fabrics I've ever created, this one combines three extraordinary yarns that have all been crocheted together as if they were one. This outrageously soft and luxurious Pussy Cap is gathered at the top, has a huge turned up band and a wonderfully comfortable fit. In time it will bloom a little, courtesy of the angora fur in the Northern Lights yarns. This is the good stuff, so good in fact that I made a matching Nekker to go with it. Buy 'em both and luxuriate.

Cap #9707 Sold
This beautiful purple millspun yarn is merino wool from Italy. It's simple and yet it has a really nice texture and twist to it and a surprising amount of weight for a merino wool. I accented it with a luscious natural espresso colored llama yarn that was handspun for me by Marsha Berkemeier of Missouri with fibers from her herd of llamas. It looks black in the picture but it's a true dark espresso brown. This is a really nice big cap with a lot of length for wearing low to the eyes and below the ears. Or if you like it turned up there's enough for a band. And soft and smooth and all the other wonderful things you've come to expect from a Pussy Cap.

Cap #7553  Sold
I saw these two millspun yarns at the Black Sheep yarn shop in Salt Lake City and knew in an instant I had to work them up together. The yarn with all the color was handpainted while the dark olive green yarn has a beautiful tweedy look to it. We've got alpaca, merino, mohair, silk and a touch of nylon going on here. The cap is thick, lightweight and squishy and the colors really rich and beautifully done. I love the look of this Pussy Cap - it's wonderful on.

Cap #6426  Sold
For those of you who just want to keep your ears warm and still show off your beautiful hair, here's your answer: a Pussy Cap headband with tons of natural white angora fur all around your ears and forehead. The purple yarn is handspun from merino wool and it's coupled with a really cool handpainted Bombyx silk from Lisa Souza. Warm, soft soft soft and very durable. And just wait that angora fur starts blooming - oh la la!

Handmade Crocheted Hats and Beanies from Pussy Cap
Handmade Crocheted Hats and Beanies from Pussy Cap
Most of this Pussy Cap is made from pure superfine Peruvian alpaca that Lisa Souza hand-dyed a beautiful range of light blues. Accenting in the band is natural white Peruvian alpaca with a hand-dyed and handspun silk/merino blend, also from Lisa. The yarns are doubled throughout the cap for extra thickness and warmth. The fit is close to the head but it's a generous fit. With all the softness and smoothness you could ever hope for, this cap is perfect for wearing next to the skin and will provide exceptional warmth and long-term durability. Absolutely beautiful on.

Cap #6393  Sold
A lot of guys still like their beanie caps to fit close to their heads and snug and this is the perfect beanie for that. Coming down comfortably to the middle of the ears and fitting snug to the head, this classic styled Pussy Cap is crocheted from two super stretchy yarns. The first is a natural grey blend of qiviut, alpaca and merino wool from Canada. It's one of my favorite yarns as much for its simplicity as for its softness. Coupled with it is another Canadian yarn - a hand-dyed Koigu merino from the mother & daughter team of Maya and Taye Landra of Ontario. It's a nice combination of yarns - the style is simple without being boring and for a change of pace you can wear the hat inside out and it'll take on quite a different look. Versatile, durable, soft and comfortable; stick in your pocket and go...

Cap #8654  Sold
Very cool colors in this South American wool that I found awhile back in my travels. There are three variations of it; yellow, teal and purple. I coupled all three of them throughout the cap with a rustic angora fur in its natural shades of grey that was handspun by Lisa Souza. The addition of the super soft angora fur mitigates the wool and makes this cap totally wearable. The angora fur will bloom of course and give this Pussy Cap a much furrier look than it has now. Accenting between the rows of color is a natural jet-black baby alpaca yarn that was handspun by Lisa Souza. It's a big cap so it'll easily come down to your eyes and below your ears for super soft warmth even on the coldest days. This is a really great Pussy Cap and completely unlike anything I've ever made before. I think you'll really enjoy it.

Cap #7554  Sold
This is a gorgeous Pussy Cap whose magic is as much in how it feels as how it looks. The natural tan yarn you're seeing here is blended from equal parts qiviut, baby alpaca and merino wool. The result is one of the softest and nicest yarns I've ever worked with. Qiviut at a reasonable price is disappearing from the market right now and my stash of this beauty is almost gone. Accompanying the qiviut blend throughout is a stunning handpainted yarn from Lisa Souza that's blended from baby alpaca and silk. This is one of her custom colorways called Mohmbasa and it is truly beautiful. This is a nicely fitted Pussy Cap with a lot of length so you can wear a big turned up band for the ultimate in warmth on the coldest winter days. Soft, beautiful and luxurious to the touch, this is the best of the best.

Cap #9804  Sold
Once you've said baby alpaca you've pretty much said it all. Here's lots of downy-soft baby alpaca for you in several of its beautiful natural colors; a creamy white and a soft pale tan with an accent trim in superfine alpaca that's also in several of the natural alpaca colors. This is a super warm and super soft Pussy Cap with a big turned up band that can also be turned down so that you'll have lots of fullness in the crown if that's the way you like to wear it. The look is classic and simple but the warmth, softness and durability are off the charts. 100% pure alpaca, 100% natural colors. The best of the best...

Cap #7563 Sold
This classic style beanie cap boasts a couple of really nice yarns that I crocheted together as if they were one. The first yarn, and what you'll feel most in this cap, is called Northern Mist and it's a blend of rare qiviut as well as alpaca and merino, all in their natural warm grey colors. Joining this super soft and super warm yarn is a thin German wool in burmished golds as well as orange, tan and black. This is a medium sized Pussy Cap that still has plenty of length for wearing low on the forehead and down to the bottom of the ears. Lots of stretch, lots of durability and lots of super soft warmth.

Cap #8634  Sold
Most of this beautifully colored Pussy Cap is crocheted with a hand-dyed garnet blend of silk & merino from Lisa Souza's spinning wheel. It's an unusual and subtle color of red and the yarn is wonderfully soft and comfortable for next to the skin. Accenting in the band is Lisa's bracken angora fur into which is nestled a brown, hand-dyed blend of angora fur & silk from South America. Finally, at the top and bottom of the band is Lisa's handspun natural black baby alpaca. A close-fitting cap with lots of stretch and tons of extra warmth in the band for your ears. This is a a fantastic looking cap on and it feels so soft and comfortable.

Cap #6408  Sold
I bought the fibers for this yarn many years ago and had Sandy Ryan from Wisconsin spin them up for me into yarn. She did a tremendous job with it but I struggled with how to get a good shaped Pussy Cap out of this ultra thick and heavily textured yarn and as a result just let it sit for several years. Recently I picked it up and tried again and wow, I guess my experience at crocheting so many hundreds of beanie caps seems to have paid off because this time it worked like a charm. This is beautiful Pussy Cap. It's fit is large and roomy but because of the texture it doesn't feel sloppy or like it's going to fall off. It just has that big style and presence that I think a lot of people are going to really like. The yarn is blended from cashmere, alpaca and merino with the spinning taking place after the dying process which involved oranges and natural tans. There's a pebble-like texture here with a very substantial feel to the yarn that makes it completely unique. For all of its size and texture though we haven't lost the softness that is so important to my caps. This is a rarity in the collection and I can promise you there'll never be anything quite like it again.

Cap #9693  Sold
From top to bottom and sea to shining sea, this Four Corners Pussy Cap is 100% pure merino wool. And boy oh boy is it soft merino. The fuzzier yarn that you see is a lightweight merino boucle` from Italy, beautifully spun and beautifully colored. (Nobody does merino like the Italians!) Alternating with it all throughout the cap is a handpainted merino wool from South America. I couldn't believe it was merino when I first touched it - it feels a lot softer and has made for a perfect companion to the ethereal boucle`. The colors are some of the nicest blues I've seen. For all its size this is a very lightweight Pussy Cap that you can probably get away with wearing long beyond when the heavier ones have to be put away for the season. Band up or down, crown high off the head or draped in back, this is one super nice and super soft cap that you'll get a lot of wear and enjoyment out of.

Cap #7569  Sold
From my signature collection comes this Mush Puppy Pussy Cap that I crocheted with a rare and beautiful yarn from Canada that's spun from the fur of Canadian Samoyed sled dogs. Their owners shear them in the spring, save the bounty and take it to my friends on Prince Edward Island where they spin it into this luxurious yarn. (There's a little bit of natural white merino wool blended into it for strength and elasticity.) In time and with a couple of wearings the yarn will start to bloom, eventually creating a halo around the cap that completely hides the stitches and creates the look of a pelted fur hat. I accented this Mush Puppy Pussy Cap with a rayon/nylon yarn that looks like little pink flowers when it's crocheted. This is a thick cap that'll keep your head toasty warm no matter how cold it gets. It has an easy fit and its softness, especially after it blooms, is just amazing.
