Handmade Crocheted Hats and Beanies from Pussy Cap
Handmade Crocheted Hats and Beanies from Pussy Cap
This is the last of a beautiful handspun, handpainted pure merino wool from Lisa Souza's Rare Treasures collection called Petrified Forest. This exceptionally soft yarn is is heavily textured and perfectly captures the range of colors found in petrified wood. Not visible in the picture are traces of a yarn that sparkles and echoes the look of micah. Accenting low in the cap is a band of triangles that I crocheted with a jet black handspun angora fur from Chile` for extra warmth around the ears and forehead. A comfortable fit with a rich, subtle look that will work equally well on a guy or a gal.

This signature Kahuna Pussy Cap starts out with a band of jet black baby alpaca, handspun by Lisa Souza. Into the baby alpaca are nestled three rows of triangles crocheted with a yarn that's a blend of llama & raw silk, both in their natural tan colors and handspun by Marsha Berkemeier of Missouri. That same yarn is then repeated for the rest of the cap creating a soft, comfortable and roomy Kahuna that fits beautifully and looks great on. Here it is modeled by Milo on the beach in Laguna.

I found this reddish baby alpaca yarn in a shop in Salt Lake and knew the second I touched it that it'd be going home with me. The softness and smoothness of this yarn is something else. And it's thick - really really thick. I coupled it with a naturally colored Peruvian tweed alpaca and the two yarns together make for a really thick and luscious fabric that looks and feels wonderful on. 100% Peruvian alpaca here; handsome, soft, durable and protective. Sized perfectly for anybody's head no matter how large or small.

$120.00 - Cap #7427  Sold
In the top part of this Four Corners Pussy Cap there's natural grey Peruvian baby alpaca pulled along with a blend of forest green alpaca & wool and a Japanese blend of cashmere & silk. Uh huh. That's right. Then we move to the bottom part of the picture where there is the Japanese cashmere & silk again + a black Italian cashmere and a pink flavored buttonspun yarn from Uruguay. Four different strands of yarn pulled together for the band with three thick strands of yarn for the body of the cap! Yowsers - is that enough thickness for you???

$140.00 - Cap #6458  Sold
I was looking at my collection of Pussy Caps the other day and thinking I needed to do more caps in black and browns. So here we go: for the body of the cap I pulled three strands of yarn together as if they were one. A little slower going with the hooking but well worth it. There's a strand of natural black superfine alpaca and a strand of natural reddish brown superfine alpaca, both from Peru`. Pulled along with them is the third yarn that's very hard to see because it's so small but it's a downy-soft baby merino wool from Uruguay that's been handpainted in some really nice earthen shades of reds, browns and pale greens. I turned up a generous band and edged both top and bottom with a doubled handspun domestic llama yarn in natural espresso brown. From top to bottom this is an exceptionally luxurious Pussy Cap - warm, soft, durable and so totally wonderful on. And guess what? If you don't lose it it'll probably outlast you!

$120.00 - Cap #8583  Sold
A simple, classic style beanie cap, this one is crocheted mostly from an olive green merino wool from Italy that has some really nice subtle shifts in its coloring. Accenting in the band are three rows of triangles in a jet-black yarn from Peru` that's blended from baby alpaca and silk. This is a grab & go beanie with an easy fit and enough breathability to make it wearable year-round in those cooloer coastal climes. And of course, it's very very soft. If it ain't soft it ain't a Pussy Cap!

$100.00 - Cap #7551  Sold
Who wouldn't love a bunny. Who wouldn't love a Pussy Cap made with the gently collected fur from a bunny. And tell me, really now, who wouldn't love an alpaca. And who wouldn't love the extraordinary softness and warmth and durability of a Pussy Cap made with a strand of angora fur yarn coupled with a strand of alpaca yarn. They're rhetorical questions of course because everybody's nuts about Pussy Caps like this one. Natural creamy white handspun angora fur crocheted together with a strand of of superfine Peruvian alpaca yarn in several of its natural colors makes for a Pussy Cap that's gonna make somebody really really happy. The wonderful thing about handspun angora fur is that after a couple of wearings it starts to bloom and becomes even softer and more spectacular. A majorly warm and majorly beautiful Pussy Cap in a simple traditional beanie cap style.

This is another one of Lisa Souza's gems from her Rare Treasures Collection. The brown yarn you're looking at is natural Yak down and she spun it with a really gorgeous blue hand-dyed tencel. This is one strand of yarn and it's super super thick, wonderfully soft and with a rich pallet of colors that are just so unusual and beautiful. This is it for this yarn - only enough for one great big super huge cap. You won't be seeing another like it probably anywhere in the world, that's for sure!

$120.00 - Cap #7511  Sold
This Pussy Cap is so lightweight you'll probably totally forget you even have it on your head. The tan yarn is a naturally colored brushed cashmere from Italy that's spun around a nylon core for strength. And the brown yarn is Canadian handpainted Koigu yarn spun from pure merino wool. The cap feels like you're holding a cloud in your hands, it's so lightweight and soft. Perfect for year-round comfort in any weather. OK, well maybe not in Phoenix in the summer, but everywhere else. Simple, comfortable and very very soft.

$100.00 - Cap #7508-Sold
From the new Four Corners Pussy Cap Collection we have this really thick Angora fur & merino yarn that was handpainted by Lisa Souza. It's coupled in this cap with a superfine Peruvian alpaca yarn that perfectly matches in color and softness. Super thick and heavy and warm for the coldest day of your winter. Oh yeh, and I guess I should say that it's huge!

$140.00 - Cap #6455  Sold
This is a custom matching Pussy Cap & Pussy Tail for my friend Michael John in Hollywood. Roll your cursor over the pictures to see more views of them both. One of the most beautiful yarns I've ever worked with, this beauty was custom spun and dyed for me by the lovely Ms. Souza herself. It's a blend of half cashmere and half superfine merino. Lemme tell ya, it feels just like cashmere and the indigo blues are simply the most beautiful I've ever seen in a yarn. Adding drama and lightness in between the thicker yarn is a tiny but wonderfully textured strand of jet-black merino wool boucle` that I brought back with me from Rome and have been hoarding for two or three years now. I had to part with it for this combination because it was just so perfect for it.

Cap & Tail #8588 and #8589  Sold
This handsome custom Pussy Cap for a new client in Southern California is 100% pure alpaca from top to bottom and side to side. And these fibers are all in their natural colors too. The black yarn is Peruvian baby alpaca and the coupled brown and tan yarns are superfine Peruvian alpaca. If you already own an all alpaca Pussy Cap you can appreciate how amazing this cap is. Alpaca is smooth and soft and 7 to 8 times warmer than wool and infinitely more durable, making it one of the most perfect choices for a Pussy Cap ever.

$120.00 - Cap #8586  Sold
There aren't too many combinations of fibers in the world softer, smoother and more luxurious than angora fur and silk. This is one of those Pussy Cap experiences that's hard to explain because you just kind of have to feel it to understand it. I took a strand of Lisa Souza's handspun, hand-dyed angora fur called Petroglyph and coupled it with a strand of a shimmering Bombyx silk in a muted gold. The colors are a perfect match and together they create a fabric that is as insulating and warm as it is extraordinarily soft and beautiful. Accenting in the band is a natural espresso brown llama yarn that was handspun by Marsha Berkemeier with fibers from her herd of llamas in Missouri. Nestled in amongst the llama yarn is the same combination of angora fur & silk that the rest of the cap is made from. A generous turned up band and a gathered top make this Pussy Cap uniquely beautiful and a perfect choice for winter weather.

$140.00 - Cap #8584  Sold
Sometimes I just run out of superlatives when it comes to talking about yarns. But what the hell, this is just one of the softest, most beautiful and luxurious Pussy Caps I've made in a long long time. The strand of white yarn you're seeing is Samoyed fur from Canada. Its tan companion is a luscious and rare blend of qiviut & merino. Together they created a fabric that just has to be felt to be believed. The samoyed is already blooming and the qiviut will be right behind it. And of course the bloom just makes it softer than ever. Accenting in the band is a red Peruvian yarn that's a blend of baby alpaca & silk coupled with a strand of naturally colored alpaca tweed. The top is gathered, the fit is sumptuous and comfortable and the softness is simply off the charts, as is this cap's ability to keep you toasty warm. It's a winter cap, no doubt about it. And in my opinion, worth every penny I'm asking for it. Roll your cursor over the images to see more views of this very special Pussy Cap.

$180.00 - Cap #7486  Sold
Fabulosity in black & white & silvery greys with a ton of alpaca and a hint of silk. The fatter black and white yarns that you see here are a luxurious blend of baby alpaca and silk from Peru`. Amazing softness and smoothness so it's an ideal choice for someone with a shaved head or sensitive skin. I coupled those yarns throughout the cap with a strand of superfine Peruvian alpaca yarn that's a tweedy blend of black, silver and white natural alpaca colors. The result is a really thick fabric and a Pussy Cap that'll be perfect for the coldest days of winter because of alpaca's tremendous insulating properties. Alpaca is seven to eight times warmer than wool and will far outlast it, which makes it perfect for beanie caps.

$100.00 - Cap #8578  Sold
This Pussy Cap is a unique coupling of two of Lisa Souza's yarns - a wonderfully soft handspun merino wool in its natural light brown color and a shimmering Bombyx silk that she handpainted with splatters of purple, lavender, blue and pale coral. The result is a thick, soft and wonderfully comfortable Pussy Cap that plays the shiny highlites of the silk off the subdued matt finish of the merino. A classic beanie cap fit and style with plenty of size for any size head.

$100.00 - Cap #6391  Sold
Pure handspun llama yarns from Marsha Berkemeier in their natural light rosy tan and creamy white have been accented with a beautiful golden thread of Italian mohair & silk. A thick cap in my signature Trykster style with a roomy fit, lots of length and the silky softness that's unique to llama.

$100.00  Cap #7525  Sold
Lucky is the person who gets to wear this Four Corners Pussy Cap on their head! I crocheted it from two amazing strands of yarn that were pulled together and worked as one on a smaller hook than I normally use. First up is a strand of millspun silk & merino that Lisa Souza handpainted in this beautiful colorway called Mohmbasa. It's companion is a strand of superfine Peruvian alpaca in its natural jet-black. Talk about two yarns that were meant for each other, wow! The cap has a wonderfully snug fit without being tight. The crown is long and the cap can be worn in a number of ways depending on your mood or need. Tons of softness, comfort and warmth in blacks and subtle golds. I love it!

$140.00 - Cap #7567  Sold
These are all millspun merino yarns from Italy with two of them in the boucle` style of spinning that gives the yarn a curly look. They're amazingly lightweight and soft and even though this is a big fitting cap it hardly weighs anything at all. Big and drapey, it's finished in my signature Four Corners style and can be worn in a number of different ways depending on the moment and your mood. The colors here were a little tricky and are probably a little greener than what you're seeing on your monitor. A fabulous cap with a fun and funky Cat In The Hat feeling to it.

$120.00 - Cap #7539  Sold
Raccoon fur, cashmere and merino in their natural colors were handspun together by Gayle Paige for one amazing yarn that's soft and furry and warm. As if that wasn't enough I coupled it with a strand of natural tan alpaca for a really dense fabric that's gonna keep you warm no matter how cold it gets outside. This Four Winds Pussy Cap is one of my signature styles and is accented around the base with a fabulous yarn that's mostly buffalo down with a little bit of merino in it. Yep, you read that right: buffalo down, also handspun by Gayle. A traditional style with a comfortable fit, this is a cold weather beanie cap with lots of length for keeping your ears and forehead covered and warm.

$120.00 - Cap #7484  Sold
This is the stuff that dreams are made of - pure cashmere, handspun and hand-dyed by Lisa Souza, one of the world's great fiber artists. This is a colorway Lisa calls Mars Attacks. It's a stunning play on the color red with all sorts of surprises along the way. The softness is truly from another planet - you simply have to feel it to understand what all the fuss is about. How many ways can I say soft? I don't know, but I keep looking for new ways to say it. In the end, cashmere is one of the world's most coveted fibers because of its indescribeable softness. Once you know it there's no turning back. This is a generously large cap but it also has a nice snug fit so that it won't get sloppy and fall off of your head. The band is huge and can be easily worn up or down, take your pick. No matter how you wear it though, this is a cashmere dream!

$140.00 - Cap #7545  Sold
The very last few inches of Lisa Souza's spectacular angora fur yarn called Petroglyph went into this decadently indulgent Pussy Cap. To make the yarn even more dramatic and mysterious I added a very tiny strand of black mohair that you can't even see - but look at the band of double crochet stitches near the bottom of the cap which I crocheted without the strand of black mohair and you'll see what a difference that almost invisible little strand of mohair makes! This is a long Pussy Cap that'll easy come down low to your eyes and below your ears and lift up very handsomely from the crown of your head because of the gathered top. Angora fur is 10 to 12 times warmer than wool and is truly one of the softest natural animal fibers you could ever put next to your skin. If you don't already own an angora fur Pussy Cap then here's your chance. They really are something amazing!

$140.00 - Cap #8585  Sold
One of the most beautiful and exciting yarns ever to find its way into my Pussy Caps is this 100% pure Mongollian cashmere called Joseph's Coat that was hand-dyed and handspun by Lisa Souza. Although I've crocheted several caps from this amazing yarn, each one of them is different because of the way the stunningly beautiful colors flow one into the next along the length of the cap. Here for something a little different I've gathered the top of the cap instead of rounding it off, which adds some fullness at the crown and gives it a really cool look. When all is said and done, this is cashmere, the fiber of royalty and it truly delivers on its promise of softness, comfort and warmth.

$120.00 - Cap #6382  Sold
From Lisa Souza's Rare Treasures Collection comes Wild Things, a hand-dyed, handspun pure angora fur yarn in a beautiful range of rich, vibrant pastels. Accenting is Lisa's handspun baby alpaca in its natural jet-black. In addition to its mouth-watering softness, angora fur is about ten times warmer than wool so this is a Pussy Cap that'll keep your head warm and fully protected from the elements. The fit is comfortable without being loose and there's plenty of length to pull it down over the ears and low to the eyes. Rich colors, ethereal softness and amazing warmth all come together here for something really special.

All handspun yarns in their natural colors here in this lusciously soft Pussy Cap. Handspun by Kristen Worthington are two different angora fur yarns in their natural silver and grey colors that when crocheted together took on the look of aged sterling silver. Accenting in alternating rows is a jet-black baby alpaca yarn handspun by Lisa Souza. This is an exceptionally soft and beautiful cap with an easy fit that will keep you toasty warm no matter how cold the weather. Hover over the images for more views of this special Pussy Cap.

Oh yeh, your eyes will roll back in your head when you feel this one in your hands and on your head. I used two spectacular yarns crocheted as one for this ultra-thick Pussy Cap - the lighter tan yarn is one of my all-time favorites and is blended from equal parts qiviut, alpaca and merino in their natural colors. It comes from a small mill in Canada and is called Northern Mist. Truly one of the most amazing yarns I've ever worked with. Joining it is a gorgeous Peruvian tweed yarn spun from several natural colors of superfine alpaca. The combination of these two yarns is amazing and I really can't think of too many of my caps that are as completely indulgent, practical and beautiful as this one. The big turned up band is trimmed with the alpaca tweed and can be worn up or down depending on your mood. Lucky is the person who will own this one!

$140.00 - Cap #7503  Sold
Two beautiful yarns coupled here for a truly luxurious Pussy Cap. The smoky black yarn is an Italian boucle` that's a blend of merino & silk - very very soft. Joining it is a gorgeous handpainted silk in lavenders, purples and lime greens from a local artist in Southern California. This is a big Pussy Cap that's thick, cushy and lightweight with tons of softness, texture and shimmering color.

Description follows...
Beaded and sequined yarns have been around for a long time but I'd always resisted buying them because I thought they might end up looking a little hokey. Recently though, I found a skein of silver silk that had a strand of clear glass beads spun into it and was seduced into giving it a try. Alternating every other row with the silk is a soft strand of superfine Peruvian alpaca spun from grey, silver & black alpaca fibers in their natural colors. These two yarns are so perfectly matched that it's hard to tell where one leaves off and the other begins. The clear glass beads, although difficult to see in these pictures, really come to life when any kind of light hits them, creating a shimmering, sparkling Pussy Cap that's as unique and beautiful as it is functional. The silk provides shimmer and drape while the alpaca provides softness and warmth in this slightly smaller cap that fits close to the head. Still plenty of length though for wearing down to the eyes and bottoms of the ears.

$120.00  Cap #278  Sold
It's simple and it's black. The yarn is an amazing blend of cashmere and silk from Italy. You have to feel it to believe it - it's really something. This is a little smaller Pussy Cap and it will have a snug fit but stretch easily for anybody's head. Remember the simple black dress? Well, here's the simple black beanie. But remember: it's cashmere and silk. This isn't the kind of beanie you'll find on the shelves at the Surf Shop. Oh no, not this one. This is pure luxury from start to finish!

$120.00 - Cap #6429  Sold
Two really beautiful and subtle yarns here - colors so subtle in fact that the pictures couldn't possibly do justice to them. In any event, this is a beautiful Pussy Cap. The first yarn is a blend of camel down and merino wool in a very deep and dusty aubergine. Accompanying it throughout the cap is a handpainted wool yarn that has all sorts of flecks of various colors in it. It's thick and big and soft. And it's perfect for somebody who wants a simpler but still luxurious beanie cap.

$100.00 - Cap #6470  Sold
From the beginning these two Pussy Caps were intended to be a matched pair and sold together. Took me awhile to get the second one completed but here they are together finally. The purple and green yarns that you see are both made from the same luscious Peruvian alpaca fibers. I coupled them all throughout each cap with a thin handpainted wool yarn from Uruguay that's got all sorts of subtle greys, greens and pinks in it. The body of the green cap has a simple purple band and the purple cap is its mirror opposite with a green band. The green cap is slightly larger and both have a classic beanie cap fit and style. Soft, warm and majorly durable, they're built to last and to protect. Wear them both yourself or give one to somebody you love.  They're great Pussy Caps and a bargain to boot!

$150.00 for the pair - Caps #7552 and #7573  Sold
If you roll your cursor over these pictures you'll see that there are two caps here. They're a custom-order matched set for a client in California with one finished in my signature Four Corners style and the other with a classic beanie cap fitted top. This stunning and luxurious yarn is an Italian boucle` spun from baby alpaca with a little bit of wool at its core. In both caps I coupled the boucle` with  two different Peruvian alpaca tweeds in several of alpaca's natural colors. The result is a fabric that is as beautiful to look at as it is soft and wonderful to wear. I call these my Doctor Zhivago Pussy Caps and it's going to be a challenge to keep finding ways to keep them one of a kind as their popularity continues to grow.

Caps #8606 & #8607  Sold
A client in California recently asked me to make him a funky Pussy Cap that started with black and spun out of control from there. This is the result of that adventure. The body of the cap is brushed baby alpaca coupled with black superfine alpaca, both from Peru` and then randomly accented with baby alpaca & silk in red, silk & wool in steel blue & gray and finally a stunning handspun handpainted cashmere/merino yarn in Indian Ocean blues from Lisa Souza's Rare Treasures Collection. This fabulous custom Pussy Cap is fully reversible and when you turn it inside out all of the knots are still there which makes for a totally different and wonderfully funky look. Either way it's great fun.

Cap #8597  Sold
Saw this handsomely colored yarn in a shop recently and had to have it. There are actually two yarns going on here - the colored one is a pure merino wool from Italy with reds and rusts and bits of tan here and there. Coupled with it throughout the cap is a really soft brushed baby alpaca yarn from Peru`. The resulting fabric is thick and soft and lightweight and the coloring is great without being too in your face. A generous turned up band adds extra warmth around the ears or you can turn it down and have a nice drape at the crown. It's nice either way. An easy fit for this classic no-fuss beanie cap.

$120.00 - Cap #8590 Sold
This is a great year round Pussy Cap because the black yarn I used for it is made from bamboo instead of a natural animal fiber. It has the look and feel of silk and will no doubt wear well like silk does. Coupled with this unique bamboo yarn throughout the cap is a very thin strand of baby merino wool from South America that's been handpainted in reds, golds, subtle pinks and pale yellows. The combination is wonderful - the cap has a really nice drape to it because of the bamboo yarn and a lot of visual interest that you just can't see in the picture. Soft and comfortable and perfect for just about any weather, this is a a easy fitting classic beanie cap look and style.

$100.00 - Cap #8594 Sold
Now this is a cap! A serious beanie cap. No wait, it's a Pussy Cap. And how can you tell??? I don't know, I think once you've seen a few of them you just somehow know. I crocheted this beauty from two very different yarns that really work well together. For the part that's worn next to your head I've used Lisa Souza's Fat Bunny yarn that she handpainted in two beautiful colorways: Olive Tones and Wild Things. It's a fabulous blend of angora fur, merino and nylon. The huge turned up band is a stunner of a colorful yarn from Italy that's a blend of a whole bunch of different fibers including merino, cotton, rayon and silk. This is great big cap for sure and would work best for someone who has a lot of hair, a bigger head or just likes their caps to fit big and comfy on their head. Gathered at the top, this is most definitely a cold weather cap; perfect for your apres-skiing cocktails at the lodge in Sun Valley or Park City. Roll your cursor over the images for more views.

Handpainted buttery-soft Uruguayan Merino has been coupled in this cap with a forest green silk ribbon yarn from Japan. Loosely crocheted and very light with a little bit of a flapper look for a Pussy Cap that's perfect for year-round comfort.

I'm all about the combining of yarns these days it seems. And this is a great example of the fun I'm having. Here we've got three totally different strands of yarn that have all been crocheted together as one for the entire cap. The first is a strand of natural tan superfine alpaca from Peru`. Next up is a strand of natural black Peruvian alpaca, also superfine. And last but certainly not least is a wonderfully subtle strand of Japanese cashmere & silk in a soft olive green. This is a really stretchy cap with a thick fabric that'll for sure keep the cold out and you feeling warm. Easy fit for anybody's head - soft, subtle and with decades of wear built right into its core.

$100.00 - Cap #7494  Sold
Lisa Souza does a beautiful job with angora fur yarns and here's a great example of that. This is Lisa's Petroglyph angora fur into which she spun a very thin strand of golden tencel yarn. To that yarn I added a strand of natural milk chocolate brown superfine alpaca yarn from Peru`. Accenting are bands of natural espresso brown llama yarn that was handspun for me by Marsha Berkemeier with fibers from her herd of llamas in Missouri. Otherworldly softness combined with extreme warmth make this the kind of beanie cap that'll become an invaluable addition to your wardrobe. An easy comfortable fit for anybody's head, male or female.

$120.00 - Cap #8577  Sold
This custom Pussy Cap was requested to replace one similiar to it that I made a few years ago. Since Pussy Caps are one of a kind I used the same yarn but did the gold band a little differently. This is a high quality Italian boucle` yarn spun from merino & silk - exceptionally soft to the touch and perfect next to the skin. In the band are golden mohair, handpainted silk and baby alpaca.

Cap #8628  Sold
Awhile back my twin brother ordered some qiviut and asked me to make some caps and scarves for him for when he goes skiing. I finally used up the last of his qiviut recently in this matching Pussy Tail and Pussy Cap combo. Both the cap and the scarf combine the qiviut with Peruvian superfine alpaca - a match made in beanie cap heaven if there ever was one! Qiviut is the downy soft undercoat of the Arctic Musk Ox and is one of the softest, warmest, rarest and most beautiful fibers on earth. Unfortunately, qiviut is extremely hard to get right now at a reasonable price so I can't even do custom orders with it. If you're interested in anything qiviut though, let me know and i'll put you on a list to notify you when I have some.

Cap #8645  Sold
This is a custom Pussy Tail that I crocheted for my twin brother Steve. He wanted something majorly thick and warm for skiing and this is what we came up with. The three yarns that I crocheted together as one are a warm grey strand of pure Canadian Qiviut, a brown strand of pure Peruvian superfine alpaca in its natural color and a black strand of pure Peruvian superfine alpaca in its natural color. With this Pussy Tail around his neck my bro will likely never be cold ever again on the slopes.

Three beautiful yarns here: First we have a soft, pink millspun yarn from Peru` in pure alpaca. I coupled that with a unique wool yarn from Uruguay that's been buttonspun by hand and has little cocoons here and there throughout. It's  been kettle-dyed in a bright, translucent pallet of colors that blend perfectly with the pink alpaca. Accenting are two bands of an aubergine boucle` from Italy that's a downy-soft blend of baby alpaca and wool. This is a big, thick, roomy Pussy Cap that's as soft as it is comfortable and as warm as it is colorful.

$100.00 - Cap #310  Sold
Another fantastic pairing of the softest grades of Peruvian alpaca for an exceptionally soft, thick and beautiful Pussy Cap. In this case I took a natural dove grey baby alpaca and coupled it with a strand of superfine alpaca that's a blend of black, grey & white all twisted together. Let's just put it this way: it's a ton of super warm, super soft alpaca. Accenting in the two bands is a black Japanese boucle` yarn that's a blend of mohair and silk; a perfect compliment to the alpaca yarns. A big, easy-fitting cap that's warm and beautiful on and will last you a lifetime.

$120.00 - Cap #6446  Sold
There are five different yarns on the playground here - three of them in the body of the cap and two others in the accenting band.  In the body the yarn that prevails is a natural grey Canadian yarn that's blended from qiviut, alpaca & merino. Even with the strand of red and gold baby merino and the strand of black mohair, it's the qiviut in the gray yarn that you're going to feel the most. Qiviut is amazing that way - one of the softest and most unique natural animal fibers on the planet. These three yarns together have made for a beanie that's thick and soft and cushy a great choice for colder days and nights because it's so warm and protective. In the band I used two strands of handspun angora fur in natural white and natural gray. Gathered at the top with a generous turned up band this Pussy Cap is luxurious to the touch and beautiful on.

$120.00 - Cap #8644  Sold
The steely blue yarn you're seeing in this Pussy Cap is my signature Woody Blue, a soft blend of alpaca and wool from England. It's been discontinued and I'm slowly but surely using up the last of my carefully guarded stash. Here I've alternated the Woody Blue with a handspun purple wool yarn from South America that I doubled so that it'd match the size of its companion. I had some concerns about the wool being soft enough for next to the skin so I crocheted an inner band of cashmere & camel down as an integral part of the cap. Hover over the images for more views of that. The turned up band is huge, about four inches, so the warmth factor here is going to be off the charts. And of course the part of the cap worn next to your forehead and ears is going to be totally soft and comfortable. For anyone who doesn't think they look good in beanies this is a great choice because the band keeps it from looking so small on your head. Beautiful colors, beautiful yarns and all the warmth and comfort that Pussy Caps are known for.

$120.00 - Cap #8646  Sold
For this Pussy Cap I combined two yarns that I thought looked exceptionally nice together. The first is one of my favorite yarns ever and something very unique to the Pussy Cap collection; it's a snowy white yarn from Canada that's spun from the fur of Samoyed sled dogs. Coupled with it is a natural grey virgin wool from South America. By itself the wool wouldn't have worked for next to the skin but coupled with the Samoyed fur your skin will never even know it's there. It's the amazingly soft Samoyed fur that dominates and that will continue to do so even more as it blooms and creates a sensational halo both inside and outside the cap. Accenting in a spiraling band of black is an Italian boucle` yarn that's blended from merino & silk. I crocheted this right into the fabric, not ontop of it, so it's there for the life of the cap and will never loosen up from it. The cap is long and is finished in a Four Corners style, although the cap itself isn't one of my Four Corners signature caps. A big comfortable Pussy Cap - majorly warm and majorly nice on. The natural creamy-white cashmere in this Pussy Cap was handspun by California artist Lisa Souza who utilized the world's finest Mongollian cashmere fibers for this yarn and spun them to absolute perfection. This is a yarn that's buttery-soft and luxurious and guaranteed to keep you smiling like the Cheshire Cat. You cannot find cashmere like this in the stores anymore - it simply doesn't exist on a commercial level. There are few yarns on earth that could couple comfortably with such an amazing cashmere -  but a Peruvian alpaca tweed in natural black, warm grey and tan does the job with great style and confidence. A classic beanie cap with an easy comfortable fit and lots of length for getting things down to your brows and the bottoms of your ears. With a few wearings the cashmere will start to bloom and create an ethereal halo around and inside the cap, making it softer and more beautiful than ever. This is what luxury is all about; all natural colors, all natural fibers and crafted totally by hand with a lot of care.

$140.00 - Cap #8620  Sold
The body of this elegant Pussy Cap is made from two strands of soft yarn that I crocheted together as if they were one. First, and what you'll feel most of all next to your skin, is a brushed baby alpaca yarn from Peru`. Its companion is a thin strand of  the softest, smoothest Italian merino wool. You can't see it in the picture but there are small spaces in between the stitches and they're not likely to fill in much, so this Pussy Cap becomes an ideal choice for those days when a regular Pussy Cap is going to be too warm. The accents in the band are double crocheted from three yarns that include a taupey Japanese silk ribbon yarn, a strand of rare Canadian yarn that's blended from qiviut, alpaca & merino and finally a strand of angora fur that was handspun and handpainted by Lisa Souza. A classic beanie cap style with understated elegance that'll be perfect for just about any occasion. The fit is easy and the cap has enough stretch to easily accomodate anybody's head. And hey, the price is so right.

This newest addition to the Four Corners Pussy Cap collection is crocheted from three particularly wonderful yarns. If you look closely at the detail above you'll see a warm grey yarn, the lightest in the picture, that's called Northern Mist. It's spun on Prince Edward Island in Canada from equal parts Qiviut, alpaca and merino. Qiviut is one of the rarest and most beautiful fibers on earth and it really shines through here, showing off its ethereal softness even in the presence of other fibers. The companion that I chose for this amazing yarn is a German made wool that combines gold, green, tan and brown for random striping all along the length of the cap. I trimmed the cap in a natural espresso brown llama yarn that was handspun for me by Marsha Berkemeier with fibers from her herd of llamas in Missouri. This is a lighter fabric than most of the Four Corners caps but it's still exceptionally soft and protective and will become even more so as the Northern Mist yarn starts to plump up and the Qiviut begins to bloom.

From my Four Corners signature Pussy Cap Collection comes this wildly soft and luxurious cap that's blended from two amazing yarns. The first is a downy soft wineberry boucle` yarn from Italy that's spun mostly from baby alpaca with a little bit of wool at its core to keep it strong. You'll never in a million years feel the wool because it's completely buried under the curls of the baby alpaca boucle`. In other words, it's the lusciously soft baby alpaca that's going to be next to your skin! Coupled with the baby alpaca is a strand of pure Peruvian alpaca in a beautiful tweed that consists of three or four natural colors. It's the perfect compliment in every way to the baby alpaca boucle` and has made for a spectacular Pussy Cap that I think you're going to totally fall in love with from the first moment it's in your hands or on your head. Finished in the Four Corners style, it's completely trimmed in the alpaca tweed and is fully reversible for a slightly different look. Soft, roomy and wonderful on, this is a seriously nice winter Pussy Cap.

The body of this cap boasts a natural tan Peruvian baby alpaca that is absolutely spectacular for its beautiful spin and ethereal softness. I coupled it with a really nice Koigu crepe merino yarn from Canada that's handpainted in the subtle colors you're seeing peeking out from the tan alpaca. I was surprised at how soft the crepe merino is - a great compliment to the baby alpaca. In the band is a soft and furry wool yarn from the world famous Noro yarnmakers of Japan. This is a traditional beanie cap fit and style; simple and easy with a dash of color and a lot of softness, durability and warmth.

The ribbon yarn you're seeing in this Pussy Cap is merino wool and it's been handpainted in a pallet of colors that has echoes of Renaissance Florence. It's a beautiful yarn - subtle and rich all at the same time. And wow, a ribbon yarn that's out of merino wool? Not easy to find. Alternating with the ribbon yarn is a wonderful aubergine yarn that's a blend of llama and merino wool. It's a perfect compliment and anchor to the colorful ribbon yarn and together they've made for a really nice Pussy Cap that for all of its bigness and thickness still has enough room between the stitches that it'll breathe easily, making it a good contender for a longer wearing season. With a big 3 inch turned-up band and a really comfortable fit this Pussy Cap is probably most ideal for somebody with a lot of hair.

$120.00 - Cap #7562  Sold
I crocheted the body of this Pussy Cap with two amazing yarns. The first is Lisa Souza's prized handspun Mongollian cashmere that she hand-dyed in a subtle pallet of Mayan golds. Nestled into it and complementing it so perfectly is a Peruvian alpaca tweed in pale tans and browns. The cashmere has already started to bloom a little and will eventually create a downy halo both on the inside and outside of the cap that will only make it softer and more beautiful. Accenting in the band is a double row of a natural espresso brown handspun alpaca from Marsha Berkemeier of Missouri. This is a big Pussy Cap with a most generous fit - perfect for someone with a bigger head, lots of hair or who just likes their caps on the comfy side. I could have just said cashmere and that would have been enough, right? Roll your cursor over the images for more views.

Pure luscious angora fur, handspun and hand-dyed by fiber artist Lisa Souza. The colors in this picture are muted but holding this Pussy Cap in your hands you'll see an amazingly beautiful pallet of olive greens, muted greys and smoky blacks. At least ten to twelve times warmer than wool, handspun angora fur will bloom and bloom and bloom, creating an astonishing looking fur cap that continues to change every time you wear it. Tons of length and a comfortable fit for lots of versatility in how you can wear it. You just gotta have it, that's all. Here's a picture of Russ Johnson modeling it.

Two really beautiful yarns here, both millspun and then hand-dyed. The first is pure angora fur in shades of pink and pale blue. That's the fuzzy stuff you're seeing. And the other yarn, well-hidden, is pure Bombyx silk that's been hand-dyed a really nice  shade of subtle pink. The result is a very lightweight Pussy Cap that's fabulously soft and wonderfully warm. Trimmed in the same yarns as the cap is made from, this is a simple yet really pretty cap.
