Even though it's kind of hard to see all of them there are three totally different yarns combined here for the body of this chocolatey brown Pussy Cap. From Peru` we have an alpaca tweed yarn blended from superfine fibers in browns and black and that's the yarn you're most going to feel in this cap. Easiest to see here is a beautiful merino yarn in gold that has a tight rope-like twist to it and that gives this cap a unique little kick. And finally we have a yarn that's very tiny and is blended from silk & mohair. Even though it's hard to see it definitely adds a lot to the finished furry look of the fabric. Accenting in the border is a golden Italian boucle` yarn that' blended from silk & mohair. The finished effect here is soft, substantial and subtle in a larger Pussy Cap that'd be perfect for someone with lots of hair, dreads or just a really big head.

Nekkers are a new Pussy Cap original creation for the '08 Fall & Winter collection. In essence, Nekkers are like those old-fashioned dickies that you pull down over your head and wear around your neck. It's a great idea and I just adapted it to what I do with Pussy Caps. I crocheted the Nekker you're seeing here with two gorgeous yarns that you'll love having around your neck or wherever else you choose to wear it. First up is a stunning natural colored angora fur from Denmark that Lisa Souza handspun into this rare and beautiful yarn. I coupled it with a very thin strand of baby merino from South America that's been hand-dyed in a wild pallet of colors ranging all the way from raspberry to olive green. Not only will it be beautiful around your neck or pulled up onto your head but it'll keep you crazy warm in the winter because angora fur is 8 to 10 times warmer than wool. This angora fur Nekker is going to bloom up a lot too because the angora was handspun and that allows some of the fibers to lift up from the strand and create a spectacular halo. Something very unique and wonderful for the season. Roll your cursor over the images for more views.

I crocheted the body of this cap with two amazing yarns that work really nicely together. The first is a Samoyed fur yarn from Canada in its natural snowy-white color. It has a little bit of merino spun into it for strength. With time and a little wear this Samoyed fur yarn will bloom like crazy giving the cap a delicate halo effect, making it softer and more beautiful than ever. Coupled with it throughout the cap is a strand of shimmering Bombyx silk that Lisa Souza handapainted in a pallet that starts at purple and spans out from there. For the accenting purple band I used a trio of yarns crocheted together. They are purple cashmere, purple brushed baby alpaca and purple silk. Alternating with them is a natural white Chilean angora fur that's going to give a significant blooming halo to the band that will extend further out than even the Samoyed fur. A downy-soft winter Pussy Cap in a traditional beanie style with plenty of stretch for anybody's head.

Cap #8648  Sold
OK, this is a very handsome Pussy Cap. I crocheted the body using four thin strands of yarn all worked together as one. Yep, four. They are, in no particular order: a strand of tan Koigu merino, a strand of garnet silk, a strand of Peruvian alpaca tweed in browns and tans and a strand of baby merino in reds, olive greens and pale coral. The colors just all blended together so nicely that it's almost as if they were just one yarn. Even with the red there is still something very organic in the way these colors look. Accenting in the band is a row of dark steely grey boucle` yarn from Japan that's spun from silk and wool. The fit is perfect - it hugs the head comfortably without squeezing it and there's plenty of length for coming down to the eyebrows and below the ears. A classic style beanie cap but with extraordinary yarns that'll last almost forever. Make no mistake though; the durability here rides shotgun to softness and warmth.

Cap #8633  Sold
This custom Four Corners Pussy Cap is crocheted from 100% pure yak down in its natural color that was handspun for me by Lisa Souza. It is without a doubt one of the most beautiful and unusual caps ever to come off my hooks. The yarn is thick and soft and full of loft and the color is something I've never seen in any other natural animal fiber. I've made two of these now, each a little different than the other, and both of their owners consider it their favorite Pussy Cap. And with good reason. It's like cashmere with an edge and the more you wear it the softer and more luscious it becomes.

Cap #9697  Sold
A custom cap in black for a dedicated Pussy Cap collector who knows her stuff and only settles for the best. I used three strands of black yarn here and crocheted them altogether as one. There is cashmere, angora fur, baby alpaca, superfine alpaca and merino. It's the cashmere she's going to feel most here in this thick and elegant black Pussy Cap.

Cap #9694  Sold
There have been variations of this style of Pussy Cap in the collection before but none exactly like this one. It's totally unique and new and wow, I'm really liking it. I took two super light Italian merino & silk boucle` yarns in olive green and black and did alternating rows of them for this cap. In between each of the two colors is a third brown and tan yarn that has one of the coolest textures I've ever seen. I crocheted the cap long so that you can wear a turned up band or with a long floppy drape at the crown. And speaking of the crown, I did a burst of the textured wool yarn up there and it looks very cool. The finish is four cornered at the top, which give this cap a funky, lighthearted look. The yarns are light and I crocheted them on a big hook so your head is going to breathe in this cap - perfect for wearing late spring and clear on into the summer if you wanna.

Cap #8643  Sold
There's just something about angora fur that adds a feeling of luxurious softness to anything I combine it with. Here I've given it two companions to keep it company in this melange of butterscotch wonderfulness. In addition to the natural colored creamy white angora fur there's a strand of natural brown superfine alpaca from Peru` and a strand of gold handpainted yarn from Lisa Souza that's a blend of baby alpaca & silk. This cap is really going to start showing off its fabulosity when the angora fur starts blooming which it will start doing as soon as you start wearing it. Extremely warm and downy soft this is a beautiful Pussy Cap every stitch of the way. I love it and I think you will too.

Cap #8591  Sold
This is a really interesting and beautiful combination of yarns. Starting off we have a unique and rare yarn that was custom spun for me by Sandy Ryan of Wisconsin. It's natural tan alpaca from one of Sandy's alpacas and she used a special spinning technique that gives it an almost squiggly appearance. I've held onto it for a long time because I couldn't hardly bear to part with it. But here it is, coupled with a beautiful Peruvian alpaca tweed yarn in natural shades of black, silver and white. I trimmed it out with a natural black baby alpaca yarn that was handspun by Lisa Souza. It's a huge Pussy Cap with a thick, dense fabric that's sure to keep you warm no matter how frigid the weather. And just to make sure that your ears are kept uncompromisingly warm I crocheted this cap with a huge turned up band. This is a rare offering, a very special Pussy Cap. 100% pure alpaca...

Cap #7549  Sold
What could be softer and more wonderful than baby alpaca? Well, brushed baby alapaca. And here you have it in purple and blue, both of which have been coupled with one of Lisa Souza's beautiful handpainted yarns called Wild Things that's a blend of silk and mohair from New Zealand. The combination of two totally different yarns really worked here - the colors work, the softness is off the charts and it feels and looks like a million bucks on. A great price for a classic beanie cap.

Cap #7543  Sold
Without a doubt the most indulgent and by far the most expensive Pussy Cap ever made is this beauty that I crocheted for my twin brother. It's a full two caps in one with Canadian Qiviut in its natural tan and Canadian Samoyed Fur in its natural white. Both of the yarns were doubled for this cap which turned one way is all Qiviut and turned inside out is all Samoyed. With the band turned up of course you get the contrasting yarns showing together. Qiviut is ten to twelve times warmer than wool and Samoyed fur isn't far behind it, so you can imagine the warmth involved here with four layers of qiviut/samoyed around your ears and forehead! I honestly don't think you could put anything on your head that could keep you warmer or look any more fabulous. He wanted the best I could possibly conceive of and this is it, pure and simple. It's a good thing he asked for it when he did because I'm no longer able to get qiviut out of Canada since most of it is being pre-sold to some dude in Peru`.

Cap #7543  Sold
I knew from the moment I started this cap that I was onto something cool. There's four yarns here so let's just make it easy and say that all of them except for the black are crocheted as one. A strand of rare Canadian yarn in grey is blended from qiviut, alpaca and merino and is what you're most going to feel here. (The exquisite softness of the qiviut really does dominate anything its blended with.)  The blue yarn is pure baby alpaca from Peru` and the white is my much-loved Samoyed fur yarn. Wow, so thick and amazing are these three yarns together. The black is a doubled yarn and is a brushed baby alpaca from Peru`. Oh yeh, soft! Majorly thick and soft and warm, this is a generously-sized classic beanie cap that'll work for just about anybody's head. In time the qiviut will start to bloom and create a beautiful, subtle halo both on the inside and outside of the cap, adding to its softness and comfort. You want a substantial cap that'll outlast you and look great doing it? Here you go...

Cap #8616  Sold
Every once in awhile I manage to talk Lisa Souza out of some of her highly prized and carefully guarded stash of royal cashmere. So here you go: a scintillatingly beautiful handspun royal white cashmere accompanied by the same yarn that Lisa hand-dyed her classic garnet red. Royal cashmere is the finest grade in the world with very little of it ever coming onto the open market because most of it goes directly to the Italian couture houses in Milan. There is no way to describe it, you just have to feel it to understand why it's considered the world's best. I accented this buttery soft jewel with a natural black handspun baby alpaca yarn that's also from Lisa's spinning wheel. This is something truly special; a classic beanie cap style with an easy fit that's crafted from the luxury of couture quality cashmere.

Cap #9688  Sold
I kind of think we're way out of the realm of just a beanie cap here. This is a huge cap with a turned up band that's a good four or five inches wide, which basically means that your whole head gets a double covering. If you can't stay warm in this puppy then you probably outta find shelter and stay there! I worked with just two yarns here but they're both doubled and wow, they make for a seriously soft and substantial fabric. First up is my custom Northern Lights yarn from Canada that's blended from equal parts cashmere, angora fur and baby alpaca. Here the yarn is plyed from maroon and smokey black so it's dark and subtle. Drawing a lot more attention but ethereally light by comparison is a downy soft kid mohair that's dyed pale purples and wine-infused greys and is a perfect compliment to the Northern Lights yarn. This is a great big Pussy Cap, gathered at the top and designed to fit snugly around the head so that it won't get sloppy and fall off. These extraordinary colors will fascinate you the more you look at them while the softness and warmth will give you everything you need from your winter headgear. Twice the amount of yarn as a normal Pussy Cap and twice the time to make it. But not twice the money. I say it's a helluva deal, wouldn't you!

Cap #9692  Sold
This Pussy Cap pulls from the best of all world's when it comes to yarns. In the body I've used a strand of pure millspun angora fur in its natural silvery gray color that's very apparent in the detail picture above. Coupled with it throughout is a strand of millspun merino wool from Italy that's blended from silvery white and black fibers in a spiraling twist. It's a great combination of millspun yarns that will change a little with time as the angora fur starts to bloom and creates a halo both on the inside and the outside of the cap. In the band I have a foundation of Lisa Souza's handspun baby alpaca yarn in its natural smokey black color and it's accented with a baby alpaca boucle` yarn from Italy in its natural brown and tan colors. Handspun, millspun, natural colors and dyed colors, they're all here together for this classic style beanie cap that has an easy comfortable fit for anyone's head. Exceptional warmth and softness because of the angora fur and exceptional stretch and memory because of the merino. It all works together nicely here. Enjoy!

Cap #8681  Sold
I made this Pussy Cap awhile back and then took it out of the catalog when I realized that the yarns I'd used weren't soft enough for wearing comfortably next to the skin. My intention had always been to crochet a soft lining into the cap and I finally got around to doing it. The outer part of the cap is crocheted from handspun wool in its natural espresso brown coupled with a buttonspun wool from South America in shades of gold, magenta and brown. The combination is exceptional with the resulting fabric having a ton of texture and subtle color. For the lining I chose an extraordinarily soft brushed baby alpaca yarn in black and brown. Hover over the images to see how this works. This isn't just a lining though - it's a second Pussy Cap crocheted right into the original one and so it's sort of like wearing two full beanies at once. The fit is snug to the head and with the brushed baby alpaca inner cap you'll never feel the wools in the original one. It's a great solution for being able to enjoy these great handspun yarns without having to worry about getting itched to pieces.

Cap #8656  Sold
This deep reddish brown yarn might be a little tough to get a good picture of but in hand and on head it's wonderful. It's brushed baby alpaca from Peru` so its softness and warmth are exceptional. Coupled with it is a tiny strand of Uruguayan baby merino wool that's been handpainted in shades of wood and is the perfect compliment to its much bigger companion. The colors are amazing in this Pussy Cap but they're subtle, so this is the perfect beanie for somebody who wants quality but doesn't want to draw much attention to themselves. The fit is generous, the colors beautiful and the softness is off the charts. This is one of those caps that could easily end up in my personal collection. I really love the colors.

Cap #8655  Sold
This yarn was marked natural white merino wool from Australia but I swear to you it has to be cashmere because I've never felt merino this soft and luxurious to the hand. I took three strands of this extraordinary yarn and crocheted them together as one for a really thick and beautifully simple Pussy Cap that has a comfortable, traditional beanie cap fit and style. A terrific price for a cap that looks and feels so much like cashmere that you'll feel totally justified in telling your friends that it is indeed, cashmere.

Cap #7540  Sold
What a happy, playful Pussy Cap this one turned out to be! (Hover over the images for more views.) The colorful yarn you're seeing here is called El Dorado and comes to us from South Africa by way of Lisa Souza who hand-dyed it these luscious bright colors. It's a fantastic blend of mohair and silk. Accenting is a wonderful French yarn that's a blend of angora fur and wool. The tassle ontop is made from both yarns and has a lot of movement so it can go anywhere on your head that you want it to. A ton of fun in a snug fitting cap that looks so absolutely cool on.

Cap #6478  Sold
Every once in awhile I go back to crocheting just one yarn at a time and the result is usually a very lightweight and comfortable Pussy Cap that can be worn year round in more temperate climates like here in California. This is just such a Pussy Cap with the black yarn being an Italian boucle` spun from merino & silk and its alternating companion a superfine Peruvian yarn spun from natural black, grey and white alpaca fibers. It's very lightweight and deliriously soft and almost feels like you don't have anything on your head. But of course you do and I'm guessing you'll enjoy every moment it's there. This Pussy Cap is very stretchy so there's plenty of length if you want to turn up a band or do something else kind of fun with it. Great yarns, great style, great fun!

Cap #8671  Sold
There are two completely different yarns at play here in this subtly shaded white Pussy Cap. First off is one of my signature yarns that's spun from the fur of Canadian Samoyed sled dogs. It's pure snowy white and with a couple of wearings begins to develop a magnificent halo. This is the yarn that will dominate and create the sensual fur effect that makes Samoyed so wonderful to wear. Coupled with it throughout the cap is a strand of Japanese yarn that's blended from wool & silk. It has some very subtle colorations going on that range from a fawny tan to a cool pale silver. It complements the Samoyed fur yarn so nicely and with time will become more subtle as the halo of the Samoyed fur develops. This is a classic style of beanie cap with an easy fit and lots of length for keeping your ears and forehead warm. Exceptionally warm, undeniably soft.

Cap #8659  Sold
More and more I'm using three yarns crocheted together as one and this is a beautiful example of how well different yarns can work together. The first is a Japanese blend of cashmere & silk in olive green. The next is a strand of cashmere and yak down from Canada in their natural creamy white colors. And the third is my super-favorite superfine Peruvian alpaca in its natural cool tan tones. What an amazing combination this turned out to be; majorly thick and soft and a very subtle blend of colors that I think are wonderful together. A big four inch band can be worn turned up or down and the cap looks amazing either way. This is luxury no matter which way you slice it. A truly wonderful Pussy Cap for those coldest winter days and nights.

Cap #7513  Sold
Simplicity in black. The yarns are a combination of Italian cashmere with a Peruvian baby alpaca & silk that I worked up on a smaller hook so the wind and the chill can't get through. It's your basic black classic beanie cap with a snug but comfortable fit. Downy soft and tough enough to last for years, although I could have probably just written black and cashmere and that would have been enough, right?

Cap #9696  Sold
From my signature collection comes this elegant Mush Puppy Pussy Cap that I crocheted with a rare and beautiful yarn from Canada that's spun from the fur of Canadian Samoyed sled dogs. Their owners shear them in the spring, save the bounty and take it to my pals on Prince Edward Island where they spin it into this luxurious yarn. (There's a little bit of natural white merino wool blended into it for strength and elasticity.) In time and with a couple of wearings the yarn will start to bloom eventually creating a halo around the cap that completely hides the stitches and creates the look of a pelted fur hat. I've seen a couple of my friend's Mush Puppy Pussy Caps that have bloomed and wow, they're just spectacular. The accents that you see in the border are double-crocheted from three yarns that include a taupey Japanese silk ribbon yarn, a strand of rare Canadian yarn that's blended from qiviut, alpaca & merino and finally a strand of angora fur that was handspun and handpainted by Lisa Souza. This is a thick cap with an easy fit, ethereal softness and unparalled warmth. Just ask the dogs! Hover over the images for more views.

Cap #8622  Sold
I took three amazing yarns here and crocheted them together as one for this ultra thick and super beautiful, super soft Pussy Cap. First is a natural white Samoyed fur yarn from Canada and it's joined by two strands of Canadian Koigu merino wool that were handpainted by mother and daughter Maie & Taiu Landra of Ontario. Yep, all Canadian yarns for this thick beauty. The big four inch band is trimmed in the Samoyed fur and it will take on a really beautiful furry look in no time at all. This is a stunning Pussy Cap, perfect for cold winters or anytime you're just feeling like getting snuggly in something warm. The Samoyed fur will bloom outrageously and totally surprise you with how beautiful it becomes. Go for it - this is a beautiful cap!

Cap #7510  Sold
I've really been having a ton of fun getting back to making my signature Mush Puppy Pussy Caps now that I have the yarn on hand again. This snowy white rarity is from Canada and it's spun from the downy soft fur of the Samoyed sled dogs. I double the yarn for these caps so that they're majorly thick and protective. As you wear the cap a few times the yarn begins to bloom and will eventually create quite a dense halo around both the inside and the outside of the cap. The blooming makes the cap even softer and warmer, eventually hiding the stitches altogether and looking for all the world like a Russian fur hat! Doctor Zhivago anybody? Accenting here is a beautifully colored handspun cashmere yarn that Lisa Souza handpainted in blues and golds. An easy comfortable fit for anybody's head in the classic style beanie cap. But it's not a beanie cap is it. It's a Mush Puppy Pussy Cap!  And boy is it soft and warm...

Cap #8632  Sold
I found this yarn a few weeks ago and fell in love with it on the spot. From this color-accurate picture you can see why I was so smitten - this is color, major fabulous color that says "Yes, spring is on the way!" The brushed yarn is a blend of wool, kid mohair and silk from those undisputed masters of color, the Noro Yarnmakers of Japan. To make this Pussy Cap even more stunning and durable I added a strand of Canadian Koigu merino yarn that was handpainted by the mother and daughter team of Maia and Taie Landra of Ontario. OK, not only are the colors amazing but this cap looks absolutely amazing on. Hell, I'd even wear it - and that's a mouthful since I've always said that I'd have to be dead before I'd have pink anywhere on me. A comfortable fit for anybody's head this is a generously sized Pussy Cap that'll fit low to the eyes and below the ears. It's priced right, so I say go for it! You'll love the way it looks and feels on.

Cap #8587  Sold
I used two exceptionally beautiful yarns in this Four Corners Pussy Cap and each makes a perfect traveling companion for the other. Natural white Samoyed sled dog fur from Canada comprises the majority of the first yarn and as it continues to bloom it will create a downy halo both on the inside and outside of the cap. In a beautiful pallet of colors ranging from pale pink to dark rusty greens and smoky blacks, this blend of silk, mohair and wool from Japan is one of the most compelling colorways I've seen in a long time. This particular Four Corners beauty has a nice snug fit; but it won't squeeze your head. And it's super long of course and can be worn in a number of different ways depending on your mood. The softness of the Samoyed fur yarn is what you're going to feel next to your skin but it's the colors of its companion yarn that are going to get the oohs and aahs. What a beautiful cap.

Cap #8657  Sold
In a world far away and deep beneath the sea lies the magic and mystery from whence these colors probably originated. Who knows what really goes on in the mind of an artist. This is superfine cashmere, one of the world's finest that's been handspun and handpainted by Lisa Souza. The colors range from a watery black to a deep royal blue with traces of aqua along the way. Although you probably can't see it I've coupled this beautiful cashmere with a strand of my custom spun Northern Lights yarn from Canada that's a smokey black blend of equal parts cashmere, angora fur and baby alpaca. The result is a Pussy Cap that is jaw-droppingly luxurious and beautiful. The big turned up band adds substance and warmth and can be worn up or down depending on your mood. I used to be afraid to put this much into a cap but not anymore. This is the good stuff, unique in all the world. Honestly, can you ever have too much cashmere? Uh, no.

$180.00 - Cap #9699  Sold
The natural creamy-white cashmere in this Pussy Cap was handspun by California artist Lisa Souza who utilized the world's finest Mongollian cashmere fibers for this yarn and spun them to absolute perfection. This is a yarn that is so buttery-soft and luxurious that one touch and you will be changed for life. You cannot find cashmere like this in the stores - it simply doesn't exist anymore on a commercial level. There are few yarns on earth that could couple comfortably with such an amazing cashmere -  but a Peruvian alpaca tweed in natural browns, blacks and tans does the job with great style and unabashed confidence. A classic beanie cap with an easy comfortable fit and lots of length for getting things down to your brows and the bottoms of your ears. This is what luxury is all about; all natural colors, all natural fibers, all natural workmanship.

$140.00 - Cap #8611  Sold
$140.00 - Cap #9692  Sold
The rich maroon colored yarn you're seeing here is a Pussy Cap exclusive from Canada that's blended from equal parts cashmere, angora fur and baby alpaca. It's called Northern Lights, the color is Bitteroot and it's new for the '08 Fall & Winter Pussy Cap Collection. I've coupled this luxurious yarn with another beautiful yarn that's blended from baby alpaca & silk and then hand-dyed by Lisa Souza in this scintillating colorway called El Dorado. For the dual accent bands here I doubled the El Dorado yarn and then doubled it again with what I call a double crochet stitch.  That's a lot of doubling eh? With a huge four inch turned up band this Pussy Cap is going to keep you exceptionally warm no matter how cold it gets outside. The angora fur in the bitteroot yarn is going to bloom with a few wearings, creating a delicate halo all around both the inside and outside of the cap. The fit is big and roomy for those who like their beanie caps a little on the fuller side. But more than anything else the feel of this Pussy Cap on your head is just plain old-fashioned indulgent luxury. That's what this season is all about for me and this cap embodies it perfectly.

$160.00 - Cap #8663  Sold
I liked this handpainted merino ribbon yarn so much I decided to do a Pussy Cap using it all by itself to see how it'd work out. Wow, just wow! It's amazing. Perfect for spring with nice spaces in between the stitches so that your head can easily breathe. Merino is a lightweight fiber anyway so all things told, this cap would probably work almost all year round in certain climates. The colors make me think that they got together at dusk on the fern and leaf covered floor of the forest and decided to have their own special mardi gras celebration. The colors are rich but they're subtle and calming and make for an interesting pattern as they work their way to the top of the cap. Tons of stretch for anybody's head in this classic style beanie cap. An absolute hands-down winner for spring. Hover over the images for more views.

$120.00 - Cap #8631  Sold
Lisa Souza does some amazing things with color and here you can see just how well she understands the concept of subtlety when it comes to hand-dyed yarns. In a beautiful range of bracken greens we have her handspun pure angora fur and in alternating rows her handspun silk-merino in garnet red. Angora fur is at least 10 times warmer than wool and infintely softer, so this is a Pussy Cap for colder days & nights and perfect for even the most sensitive skin. It will fit close to the head without squeezing it and give you many years of unequaled warmth and comfort. Beautiful, subtle and wonderful on.

$120.00 - Cap #6407  Sold
There's just something about white and blue together that's always worked for me. Here the pure white yarn is a downy soft blend of baby alpaca and silk from Peru`. It's a luxurious blend and one that works really well for my Pussy Caps. Alternating every two rows is a beautifully colored virgin wool from Germany that's mostly blue with traces of lots of other colors along its length. The combination of the two kind of reminds me of looking up towards a snow-capped mountain in spring and seeing the glorious blue skies behind it. This is a big, comfortable Pussy Cap with some breathing room in between the stitches so you might be able to wear it longer in the season than one of the other decidedly winter only caps. It looks wonderful on and might be totally perfect for someone with blue eyes. Or brown eyes. Or green eyes. Or hazel eyes. A simple, classic beanie with the unmistakable luxury of a Pussy Cap.
